Minimum Wage
General: The Tripartite Committee for Labor Affairs has set the minimum wage in Jordan at JOD 260 for both 2023 and 2024.
Payroll
Payroll Cycle: In Jordan, payroll is typically processed on a monthly basis, with payments made on the same day each month and no later than the last working day of the month. However, some employers opt to pay their employees on a bi-weekly basis.
Working Hours
General: 8 hours per day, 48 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday.
Overtime: When employees are required to work overtime or on holidays, there are limits on the number of hours permitted. According to Article 57 of the Labor Law, mandatory overtime is capped at 30 days per year.
Overtime is compensated at 125% of the regular salary on working days and 150% on holidays or rest days. Certain workers, such as supervisors and managers, may be exempt from these provisions.
Leave
Annual Leave (Vacation):
Employees are entitled to a minimum of 15 days of annual paid leave increasing to 21 days after five years of service. Each employer can decide their own carryover policy.
Public Holidays
Holidays that fall on weekends are observed on the following Monday as a day off in lieu.
Some religious holidays, determined by the lunar cycle, will be confirmed closer to the date of the holiday.

Sick Days
Employees are entitled to 14 days of paid sick leave per year, covered fully by the employer. Additional 14 days may be granted in cases of hospitalization or based on a doctor’s recommendation.
Maternity Leave
Pregnant employees are entitled to ten weeks of maternity leave with full pay, including time off before and after delivery. The post-delivery leave must be no less than six weeks. Upon returning to work, the employee is entitled to one hour of leave each workday for nursing the child until the child is one year old.
Employers with at least twenty married women workers must provide an adequate facility with a trained nurse for the care of employees’ children under four years old if there are at least ten children in this age group.
Paternity Leave
The revised labor law now provides new fathers with three days of paid leave following the birth of a child, whereas previously, the law did not include provisions for paternity leave.
